YciaRating: JinYa Ramen Bar

Houston!! I got this ramen kinda time again…. If you are at the Nasa area, you might have heard about JinYa Ramen Bar. It’s all the way to the the Johnson Space Center Houston. Don’t worry! They have a MidTown location now. Yes, MidTown… so you don’t have to drive all the way to Nasa.

Last year, I was coming back from Galveston area and decided to try this place. The ramen is great! but.. location is not that great, since I am in the west Houston most of the time. So I haven’t went back there ever since. But now, they have midtown location, me and my cousin definitely come over.

JinYa Ramen Bar

Both places have the similar character of setting style. The Nasa location has their bar area together with the rest of the sitting area, while the MidTown location has their bar facing to the front entrance, making it feels separate from the seating area. Nasa has their parking lot area while, the MidTown you can get the valet parking garage or find yourself parallel parking along the street.

So, when the host take you to your seat, they say: ‘Irasshai!’ then all the crew come along saying Irasshai too. Irasshai is short from irasshaimase, meaning welcome to the store which the usual ritual they do back in Japan.

Back at Nasa location, I order the Tonkotsu Black which is their No.1 signature Ramen.
I love the pork broth and fresh noodles, came with pork chashu, kurikake, green onion, Nori dried seaweed, seasoned egg, garlic chips, garlic oil, and fried onion. It also has the option of thin noodle (just ask the waiter for that). Also, you have an option of hotness: Mild, Spicy, Hot. They charge you 0.50$ extra for spicy and hot, but you can always have their free chili sauce at your table.

And recently at MidTown, I ordered the Ramen of The Month: Spicy Miso Ramen. It came with only 1 level of hotness, I don’t mind that, since the spicy level is already good for my taste. If you want it spicier, you can put extra chili sauce provided on the table. There is no skinny noodle choice for this one, just regular ramen noodle. I love the pork broth, it’s so good! It came with chop pork chashu, some spinach, beans sprout, fried garlic, green onion, and some mushroom.

For dessert, I was excited to try their Annin Tofu or Sweet Almond Pudding. So it is basically a pudding that top with some chop fruits: strawberry, kiwi, and cantaloupe, also not to forget the smooth whip cream and sizzling of berry sauce.

Overall, JinYa Ramen is one of the go to ramen places I would have in Houston area. They also have plenty of franchise locations throughout 6 states here in US and couple provinces in Canada. Let me know what you guys think. And Talk to you next time on YciaRating!
